On the general question of the prevention of cattle disease and of the conduct of markets, I am directed to forward, for Mr Stanhope's information, a copy of The Foreign Animals Order of 1885 and of Animal Order of 1884, which will be found to contain all the Regulations in force in this country with reference to the importation of foreign animals, and the regulation of markets so far as the latter come within the jurisdiction of the local Authorities under The Contagious Diseases (Animals) Act, 1878, which the Lord President thinks may be useful to the Government of Hong Kong.
The inclosures in Mr Marsh's despatch are returned.
